What Data We Collect

  • Location data — GPS coordinates when you create or discover a drop. Used to pin drops to real-world locations and calculate proximity.
  • Audio recordings — Voice recordings you choose to create. Stored as encrypted audio files.
  • Wi-Fi information — SSID and BSSID of nearby networks when you create a drop. Used for indoor positioning to place drops inside buildings.
  • Health and motion data — Activity type (walking, running, etc.) via HealthKit, if you grant permission. Used only to add context to your drops.
  • Context data — Current weather conditions and currently playing music at the time of recording. Captured automatically to enrich the drop experience.
  • Account information — Email address or Apple ID used for sign-in.

How We Use Your Data

  • Pinning voice drops to GPS locations and Wi-Fi networks
  • Calculating proximity so you can discover drops when you walk near them
  • Displaying context snapshots (weather, music, mood, activity) alongside drops
  • Indoor positioning via Wi-Fi network matching
  • Sending push notifications when you enter a drop's geofence
  • Transcribing audio for search and accessibility
  • Screening public and shared content for safety. When a drop is public or is a reaction, its transcript text (never the audio itself, and never your location) is checked by an automated moderation system to keep prohibited content off the map before anyone else can see it.

Third Parties

  • Our own servers — The backend API, database, and your audio files are hosted on infrastructure we operate and manage directly. Audio is stored on our own servers, not with a third-party object-storage provider.
  • Anthropic — When a drop is public or is a reaction, its transcript text is sent to Anthropic's Claude models for automated content-safety classification. Only the transcript is sent — never the audio recording and never your location. Anthropic does not train its models on this data.
  • Apple — Authentication via Sign in with Apple; push notifications via APNs; on-device speech, weather, and health frameworks.

We do not sell your data to anyone. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for ad targeting.

Data Retention

  • Voice drops persist until you delete them.
  • Deleting your account removes all your drops, context data, and personal information from our servers within 30 days.
  • Anonymous usage analytics may be retained in aggregate form.

Your Rights

You can delete individual drops at any time from within the app. You can delete your entire account from the Profile tab, which removes all associated data. You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.
